CASE RESULTS
$1,925,000 – Motorcycle Accident – Jury
Verdict
The client was the
passenger on a
motorcycle. The driver of
the motorcycle decided to
start passing traffic on the
shoulder of the two-lane
road on which they were traveling. The
motorcycle then crashed into a car that was
turning into a business parking lot. The client
was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered a
serious leg injury. At trial, the jury awarded
$1.925 million against the driver of the
motorcycle.
$675,000 – Auto Defect/Wrongful Death –
Settlement
A woman drove her vehicle
into an intersection where
she was t-boned by
another car on the driver
side. She initially survived
the impact but tragically
succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. A
lawsuit was filed against the car manufacturer
on behalf of the woman’s parents and children.
The lawsuit claimed that if side impact airbags
had been installed, the woman would have
survived. The case settled before trial for
$675,000.
$420,000 – Prisoner Mistreatment –
Settlement
The client was a prisoner
with a life sentence who
alleged that the guards
retaliated against him for
making certain internal
complaints. The lawsuit
claimed that the guards were making death
threats and that they threw away his belongings.
There were also allegations that the guards hired
other inmates to beat the client. The case settled
prior to trial for $420,000.
$240,000 – Car Accident – Jury Verdict
The client was stopped at
a stop sign when he was
rear-ended at a low rate of
speed. The visible damage
to the car was minimal,
though the client later had
neck surgery. The insurance company’s
maximum offer to settle the case was for
$25,000. The client’s original law firm attempted
to convince the client to accept the $25,000
settlement offer. The client then switched
attorneys, and the case proceeded to trial. At
trial, the insurance company asked the jury to
award around $10,000 to the client. The jury
awarded the client $240,000.
$215,000 – Uninsured Motorist Claim –
Settlement
The client was hit head-on
by a drunk driver who was
not covered by insurance.
She suffered a fractured
wrist and required surgery
and the installation of a
metal plate. The insurance company offered the
client a little more than $100,000 to settle the
case before she was represented by an attorney.
After she hired a lawyer, the case settled for
$215,000.
$175,000 – Slip and Fall – Settlement
The client was at a
gardening store that had
an automatic drip system
to water the plants. The
system had a leak, which
created a puddle on the
ground. The client slipped on the puddle and fell
and fractured her elbow. A negligence lawsuit
was filed, and the case was settled for $175,000
shortly after.
$150,000 – Car Accident – Settlement
The client’s vehicle broke
down in traffic, and she
was unable to get to the
shoulder of the road. She
put on her hazards and
called for help. Another
driver was not paying attention and crashed into
the back of the client’s vehicle. The client
suffered neck and back injuries for which she
treated sporadically over the following year. The
insurance company’s highest offer had been
$22,500. Right before trial, the insurer tendered
the policy limit of $150,000.
$150,000 – Car Accident – Settlement
The client was driving on
the freeway and was
forced to slow down, due
to traffic congestion. A
driver who was not paying
attention rear-ended the
client at approximately 55 miles per hour. The
client’s vehicle was forced into an adjacent lane
and was struck by another car. The client
suffered a serious brain injury and was
hospitalized for a month. Policy limits of
$100,000 and $50,000 were paid by the
insurance companies of the two other cars.
$130,000 – Prisoner Mistreatment – Jury
Verdict
The client was a federal
inmate who was retaliated
against by prison guards
for filing certain
grievances related to his
conditions of confinement.
The day after the guards told the inmate that he
would be “taken care of,” other inmates broke
the client’s leg. The guards then failed to call for
medical assistance. At trial, the jury awarded
$100,000 for pain and suffering and an
additional $30,000 to punish the guards.
$115,000 – Car Accident – Settlement
The clients were a mother
and her children, who
were hit in an intersection
by a driver who ran a red
light while he was
impaired by prescription
drugs. The clients’ original law firm tried to
persuade them to settle the case for $28,500.
The clients then switched firms, and settlement
was achieved in the amount of $115,000.
$100,000 – Motorcycle/Car Accident –
Settlement
The client was on a
motorcycle when another
driver attempted a lane
change and hit the
motorcycle. The client fell
from the motorcycle and
suffered a serious legal injury. The insurance
company for the driver of the car initially
claimed the driver was not at fault. However,
after a lawsuit was filed, the insurance company
paid the policy limit of $100,000.
